Maryjo Pirages Reynolds is an attorney at Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP who represents employers in labor and employment matters.  Maryjo helps businesses of all sizes navigate the ever-changing legal landscape in order to limit their liability and exposure. In addition to helping employers ensure they are complying with statutory and administrative regulations, she advises them on their contracts, policies, and the development and implementation of employee handbooks. She has defended employers against charges of discrimination and retaliation involving the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the Illinois Department of Human Rights, as well as claims alleging unfair labor practices filed with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB). She also has experience representing employers in immigration matters, including the filing of employer sponsored visa petitions and in I-9 audits.

More generally, Maryjo counsels clients within the business sector on business formation and operations, commercial real estate transactions, and other corporate drafting needs.  She also assists individuals and families with estate planning and administration.

Born and raised in Rockford, Maryjo is committed to the Rockford community.  She moved back home in 2012 after graduating from the University of Illinois College of Law, magna cum laude.  Maryjo is the current Facilitator (President) of Next Rockford, a group of young professionals committed to education and advocacy in the community.  She also serves on the Goldie Floberg Board and volunteers with Transform Rockford, the 17^th Judicial Circuit Court’s Arbitration Program,  and Big Brothers Big Sisters.  Additionally, Maryjo serves on a committee with the Community Foundation of Northern Illinois and was appointed by the Mayor to the Davis Park Task Force.  Previously, she was on the Crimestoppers Board for five years and served as President of the Young Lawyers’ Association.   Last, but not least, Maryjo is a proud wife and mom.
