“My brother Ray has been with Goldie Floberg for most of his 42 years. Ray has Down syndrome along with additional health issues associated with the condition. He would have died as a baby had he not had such good care there. Ray was in another care facility for a short time as a child, but we quickly chose to come back to Goldie Floberg so that he could take advantage of the high quality care he receives. Although Ray cannot talk, he thrives at Floberg and expresses it in sign language.

“I love working at Goldie Floberg because there is never a dull moment. There has never been a day at work where I have not smiled and felt overjoyed to be spending time with the clients I work with. I have worked at Floberg for 9 years and have worked anywhere, from the Kitchen to Residential Programs as well as Cila and Group Homes. I love getting to work at different houses and see the “family” that the staff and clients have at each home.

It makes me so happy to see how much other staff care for their clients at their specific homes, and how the staff will do anything to make their clients happy and live comfortably. I love working here because when I come to work I am greeted with a smile and a hug from the clients and always feel wanted and needed. I love watching the clients learn and progress throughout the years. The transfer into the group homes has been extremely beneficial for all clients thus far and it is amazing to see them become real members of their community. I love working here because it keeps me grounded and reminds me to enjoy the little things in life. I love watching my clients get extremely overjoyed just by doing things we take for granted, like a trip to Wal-Mart, or going to Heartland Prom or Special Olympics.
