The Goldie Floberg had the great honor of kicking off the YMCA Intern Challenge this year.

The opportunity arose when Steve Schmeling, owner of Schmeling Construction and Goldie Floberg Board member, sponsored the Challenge and made the Goldie Floberg the beneficiary of his sponsorship. A total of 18 amazing young leaders accepted the challenge of building a brand awareness campaign for the Goldie Floberg. The Interns were divided into two teams and had a week to develop a campaign and a video to go along with the campaign. On Monday the YMCA held the Apprentice style board room meeting where each team presented their plans and videos. The teams also raised money for new athletic uniforms for the Goldie Floberg’s Special Olympics athletes, getting us almost halfway to our goal!

We were fortunate to be a part of this amazing event and were really impressed with the quality of the young leaders participating in the Challenge. A huge thank you goes out to Schmeling Construction, the YMCA, and this summer’s Interns! Check out these stories on the YMCA Internship Challenge on WTVO,  WREX, and WIFR.
