It’s only October and we have so much for which to be grateful. I hesitated to theme this newsletter around gratitude, knowing that the holiday season, a season in which we celebrate giving thanks, is just around the corner; and we’ll likely be saying “thank you” again.

Cultivate the habit of being grateful for every good thing that comes to you, and to give thanks continuously. And because all things have contributed to your advancement, you should include all things in your gratitude.
— Ralph Waldo Emerson

Then I found this quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson on giving thanks “continuously,” which reminds us that our advancement is propelled by the obvious and not so obvious “gifts.” In this newsletter, you’ll learn of the success of your advocacy for the direct support professional pay raise, a successful 2017 Special Olympics, the volunteerism all around us, and a special event dedicated to donors, like you, who are making our advancement possible.

In 2018, we will celebrate 100 years of caring for our community’s most vulnerable, and many of you have been behind a good portion of those years. Our legacy and our advancement are not possible without every one of you reading this note. So please pardon our gushing as our show of gratitude has only just begun.
